We will allow backorders of most printers in this sale.  Note that due to the success of the Taz 6, supplies of the mini are a bit limited and we will only be able to ship from stock, so no backorders on the mini.

A NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT

You may have seen some of our teaser images of enclosures for the Ultimaker and Lulzbot Mini on Instagram.  An enclosure can be beneficial for printing in a number of different ways.  One is simply that it keeps little (and big) fingers and paws off of your printer while it is running.  Another is that it keeps the print volume warmer, which can reduce delamination and warping, especially for high warp materials like Nylon, Polycarbonate, and ABS.  It also keeps the noise of the printer contained a bit.

Those enclosures are now available for order.  The Mini can be purchased here.  Ultimaker enclosures will be posted within the next day and can be found at our Ultimaker landing page.

Look for enclosures for the BCN Sigma and Taz 6 coming soon.  Of course, if you weren’t already aware, we’ve had the Robo3D Enclosure available for several years now and will be launching a screw together version in the next few weeks.

Reorganization of our mailing list and website restructuring

We’re working on reorganizing our mailing list.  Look for a message in the next month or so to get you announcements that are a bit more relevant to your interests.  For example, I’m guessing if you live in Alaska, you are not interested in coming to our in store events and I don’t want to bother you with the invites if that is that case.

Another upcoming change will be to our website.  Last year we launched a completely new design, but as our offerings have expanded, especially with the new store, the organization has become a bit…  lacking.  We’ll probably make a big production out of this.  Maybe do a contest with some prizes in conjunction with the launch?  If anyone has any suggestions either for a contest or for website layout, feel free to send them to me.

SOME IN STORE NEWS

We have started scheduling our first in-store  events!

The plan is to hold these on a regular basis going forward, but things do tend to be a bit tricky in the summer.

Our first FREE skill builder Sundays meetup is on Sunday July 24th.  Our plan with this event is that it is a free form 3D Printer hangout where we can all share our successes, failures, and solutions in order to help everyone become better at running their machine.  Signup is here or on our Facebook page.

We’ll also host our first Assemble and Keep a 3D Printer session on 7/16.  For $550, you will assemble a Wanhao i3 v2 3D Printer, receive lunch, a spool of filament, a buildtak spatula, and a full day of instruction.  The assembly of this printer is pretty simple, so most of the day will be spent learning how to operate and maintain this machine like a pro.  Attendance will be limited to 4 users, so sign up here without delay.
